Brief Bio
Nicolás Palomares is an Industrial Engineer with a specialization in Mechanics, holding an MSc degree and extensive experience in human factors, particularly within the automotive and railway industries. Since 2007, he has served as a researcher at the Instituto de Biomecánica de Valencia, where he leads and participates in projects focused on transport, human-machine interaction and occupational health. His research interests cover a range of human factors including physical and cognitive ergonomics, usability, human error, vibrations, acoustics, and occupational health. He has played an active role in 33 publicly funded research projects and 28 private research contracts with industry partners, concentrating on innovations in the automotive and railway sectors. Mr. Palomares coordinated the H2020 SUaaVE project under the EU’s Horizon 2020 program, dedicated to advancing public acceptance of autonomous vehicles.

Brief Bio
Dr. Juan Manuel Belda Lois is a senior researcher of Instituto de Biomecánica de Valencia. He has been working in the development of assistive products since 1997. He has participated in several European Projects from 5th Framework Program to Horizon2020. Coordinating the project ABC (Advanced BNCI Communication) and participating in other projects related with the application of Physiological Computing Systems as asssistive products. He has been the lead researcher on Interface Design at IBV between 2014 and 2016, and nowadays is the leader of application of physiological signals of the center.

SCOPE

The acceptance of Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) is a key importance since it will determine whether they will actually be used. The goal of this special session is to share, discuss and disseminate the most recent advancements focused on enhancing acceptance in CAVs. The session will cover the current research trends in Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, HMIs and Human Factors with the aim of enhancing the experience of drivers and passengers in the framework of automated vehicles. This special session is organized by the coordinators of the Horizon2020 project SUaaVE: https://www.suaave.eu/
